Stay safe, you could definitely get some of the strong feeder bands through there as the eye passes through center of the state.
From maps I have seen, the worst of the storm should be well off to the west of you. And they have had pretty good accuracy and confidence with the storm track, even if they were off on the intensity.
Yes - that is a bit worrying - I’m on the 3rd floor!!!!
We have been experiencing a lot of ‘pop up’ storms for the last several weeks and they are pretty scary. Too bad I don’t drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most helpless I have ever felt in my life. I am in Virginia right now getting ready to retire and was going to be joining her in two weeks. Now not sure what is going to happen.
Thank you - that is a super clear graphic....
Stay safe, FRiend. Please check in and provide local updates when you are able.
They have not yet posted the video but this is the reporter (Steve Barrett with WFTV in Panama city before it all hit) and they show the homeless man. I believe they thought they would be safe where they were.
You’re so right. I expected to see more empty slabs after this storm. So far I’ve mainly seen marina’s, gas stations, mobile homes, and Mexico beach. It was nasty, but so far looks like a bullet dodged for a cat 5 in my book.
Prayers up for you and your family!
On that emergency radio link upthread somewhere, some were saying that a tornado/s had touched down in that town/area earlier.
NN, thank you for this thread.
Mewz, thank you for the link.
I have been trying to listen in to repeaters/ham stations on EchoLink. Only one, TheGuild, in Tallahassee has traffic. The others are not connecting. Couldn’t connect to N4QEP-R in Pensacola.
Any FL hams here?
Try to take it one step at a time. First, your family needs a safe place to stay tonight. That and a hot meal are the priority now.
I always think of this when I hear or see Apalachicola.
Apalachicola, Florida: Museum To The Man Who Invented Air Conditioning
We played them in HS football many years ago too.
There was a ham either near the top of this thread, or the end of the first thread. Can’t recall name.
