Thanks, we have place to stay for two weeks, started insurance claim, got living expenses advance . . . still getting first-hand accounts of looting . . . civilization is so fragile. Two home fires in Port St Joe burned to the ground. People casually dismiss John Locke’s description of the state of nature, but in areas outside of law enforcement it is on display.
I saw a couple of photos of local fires. Any idea whether they were due to natural gas lines leaking or propane tanks? I've been hesitant to get gas here on the coast for that very reason. Even propane tanks can turn into floating bombs in a storm.
And kidney patients needing dialysis. Ugh..awful.
From the article and reading around there are many small and rural towns well inland that were decimated and have dire needs. I’m not a logistics specialist but I wonder if they can get some choppers in there with water and MRE’s and rescue critical patients when leaving?? Or maybe they already are but media doesn’t tell us.
It’s hard to get a real number of missing from the news. I start to read something that says it was published 10 minutes or 3 hours ago only to find it was written yesterday or longer and they just changed headline..clever and devious. The closest I can get is roughly 250 missing from Mexico Beach.
Thanks. I’ve been thru a few of these things while living most
of my life no more than 70 miles or so from the Gulf Coast. This
one wasn’t that bad here but did blow some trees down in areas that
cause power outages. They are saying Tuesday night for all to be
back on but I’d bet it will be earlier than that.
Oh my heart goes out to you. This puts your life in an entirely different light and rearranges priorities very quickly. I often think about the thin strand of civilization and understand what you mean.
My prayers for your stamina, courage, comfort and humor as you walk through this.
I don’t know how you’re gonna get back out there
unless the national guard has a bailey bridge or something.
The looters are using boats...
So far, more than 142,000 gallons of water and nearly 174,000 MREs have been air dropped into communities...
Found this.

Hurricane Michael updates for beach
Post Date:10/13/2018 4:00 PM
Here’s a few updates on a variety of things going on with Hurricane Michael efforts in Panama City Beach and beyond, and this will hopefully answer some of the questions you have.
Household garbage in the city limits of Panama City Beach will be picked up beginning tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 14.
We remain under a boil water notice. You may use the house water for bathing but not for brushing teeth, washing dishes, drinking or cooking.
Most mobile phones and land lines are still not working. Phone service is limited.
There is free drinkable bulk and bottled water in several locations around town including the Panama City Beach Police and Fire stations and Aaron Bessant Park. There is a tanker truck full of water in the front parking lot of City Hall. Please bring your containers and fill them. Other tankers have been directed across the Hathaway Bridge.
There is still a dusk to dawn curfew in place for the protection of our residents.
Power and water has not been restored to all of the beach. Continue to conserve water. Do not water your lawns or wash your cars at this time.
When you come upon a non-functioning traffic signal, treat it as a 4-way stop.
The City has placed porta potties at various locations on the east end where there is no water. These locations include the Chevron on Joan Avenue and North Lagoon; Rick Seltzer Park; Winn Dixie at Magnolia Beach and Thomas Drive; Lindsey Furniture parking lot, Thomas Drive and Highway 98 and Bid Daddy Drive at the old Tiki Bar.

Bay Medical Beach ER is open on Panama City Beach Parkway, as is the ER at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center.
There are multiple sites serving food including the Destiny Worship Center, 13300 Panama City Beach Parkway, and food giveaway is being coordinated at Woodstock Church, 17495 Panama City Beach Parkway. Please check our Facebook page here for more food information: City of Panama City Beach-Government
Businesses are beginning to open on the beach. You can find groceries, home repair supplies, etc. We ask that you please be conservative and limit your purchases to two to three days use. More supplies are coming.
Gas remains in short supply and there are long lines for gasoline. Please limit travel and pair up with a neighbor when running errands.
Go to Bay District Schools Facebook for updated information on the situation with the schools.
WKGC 90.7 is broadcasting official messages regarding rescue efforts and valuable information.
Finally, we ask that you please look out for each other during this very difficult time. We have received an outpouring of support from first responders, municipalities, counties, churches and good Samaritans across the country. We appreciate their help. Please don’t forget your neighbors. Check up on each other. Share when you can. We will get through this and we will get through it together.
Public Information Officer Debbie Ward can be reached at (850) 775-7033 or dward@pcbgov.com.
Prayers. Sorry you’re going through this.
Great find!
Thank you kristinn!
To read Twitter and various news accounts you’d think the governor only cares about cots in the mansion for state troopers, fema hasn’t shown up and there’s no water or food for anyone. Because Gillum.
Yes! Good news but not Pollyanna-ish.
Also, I read Mexico Beach is now missing 46 people rather than 250.
Port St Joe has natural gas lines throughout. I have no idea if the fires were accidental or arson. We are fine, we have a roof over our heads in Tallahassee and will have our home repaired. If you haven’t, say a prayer for the truly hard-hit who lost everything. Most of these people live paycheck to paycheck and lost what little they had.
We’ll know better tomorrow when friends who also own property on the Cape said they will check out our place and send photos. Fingers crossed.
Considering the ENORMOUS fed/state response, I’m hopeful we’ll be back home with at least elect power within a month if not sooner.
To Repeal the 17th, four wheel drive vehicles can get around Stump Hole if the tide isn’t too high.
Thank you all very much. Gotta run.
The complaining has been from those who refused to evacuate and are now demanding to be immediately taken care of. Some in the media all too happy to air their complaints without context.
Yep.

Ive been traveling the Panhandle nonstop to check on families that have been affected by Michael. Thousands of people have dropped everything to help these communities. They are our heroes. Its incredible to see how Floridians have come together.
Thanks for asking. They are still there staying with neighbors that did not have damage. I will be down there Tuesday to find an apartment close by.
Very glad to know your wife and MIL are safe, and that you will be arriving very soon to be with them. Best wishes to you for safe travels, strength and perseverance as you manage this difficult situation. God bless you.
Keep the faith! Keeping those less fortunate in our prayers too.
OCT 14 7:30 PM
