Did I or did I not hear Grassley say that the investigation would be limited to one week and “this (Ford’s) allegation” only, and then he called for the vote? It seems to me that “this allegation” could cover how the allegation came to be.
I was listening on radio & may have heard wrong, but if the making of the allegation itself can be investigated, Grassley may have snuck one in & the Dems may have gotten more than they bargained for.
But the truth is that what Grassley said doesn't matter, so he really can't have "snuck one in". Ultimately, the only thing that matters for confirmation is what kind of investigation will satisfy Flake and the two women, and they're going to go by what they want, not by what Grassley said in committee.
Again, the key point is whether or not they are satisfied with limiting it to Ford, or whether they'll demand an investigation into Avennati's crap as well.
