As I recall, her mother chose to take the side of her husband. I assumed that she believed her daughter had encouraged her husband...which was definitely not the case. It's sad when you can't even count on the one person you'd think would have your back...but it happens unfortunately.
Sorry - that's not a mother, that's a womb that birthed a child.
