The republicans hired this female prosecutor to CROSS EXAMINE this witness because they could not do it politically with the optics of all males cross examining this “victim”. Cross examination necessarily has to project skepticism. This prosecutor is not going to impeach this witness unless she grows a set and starts cross examining with some skepticism. She can do this effectively and stay in bounds politically by concentrating her cross examination not on whether it happened in the way the witness says it happened (which it probably did not) but concentrating her cross exam on the selective memory where she has forgotten most of the facts but retained only specific facts 36 years later that point to Kavanaugh and Judge who she barely knew. Things like she only had one beer that evening as did the rest of the partygoers except Judge and Kavanaugh. Who 36 years later remember show many beers they had at a party and forgets the rest of the details?
If your looking for a Perry Mason moment it isn’t going to happen. Mitchell only has a limited amount of time, not unlimited like she is used to. You may have seen too many TV shows. If this wasn’t in public you can be sure Mitchell’s tactics would be very different.
