I think that the extension is only for her to INFORM the Senate whether or not she accepts the invitation to appear on Monday, not to extend the date of the hearing. I tried to verify this by an internet search but it is so skewed that I could not find it in a reasonable amount of looks. The Senate committee, understandably, needs a minimum amount of time to prepare for the hearing.

Her acceptance also must come with her biography and written opening testimony. I don’t know if submitting false written testimony like this would be considered lying to Congress or not. I do not think that she would ever have to be under oath.

I would assume that since her opening statement is part of the record, she could get in trouble, but...everybody lies to Congress and gets away with it. Holder, Clapper, Hillary, Brennan, just to name a few.
