Correct but the reason for the sinking was the doors had not been properly secured and thus the waves opened them. It was 100% human error. The vessel should not have sunk except for this human error.

i believe another issue was the lack of any internal bulkhead on the car deck. These would have slowed loading and off loading. once the bow doors were breached there was nothing to stop the water filling the entire car deck.
