If a third have tried it, my basic math skills calculate that two thirds haven't, and two thirds of the drug trade business is a lot of twenty dollar bills.
I don't deny that drug dealers, high up the food chain certainly use the latest technology to operate their business but their street level customers are still paying in cash. That means a lot of small bills have to be laundered somewhere.
Ultimately everyone will be forced into this system and shutting down the thieves will be a big selling point, or at least they will claim it is. More likely it will just stream line the politicians rake.
That’s one app out of many. Plus not all millenials are doing drugs.
Street level drug dealers have a long history of being early adopters on communication tech. They were the first to see the potential in pagers, cellphones, especially the disposables, and pay apps. High risk high competition businesses can’t stand still, somebody will figure it out first.
I just don't think the street level users will be able to make the transition. But hey, I have said for twenty years that money would disappear, now because of computers it can easily be done.
Part of the sales pitch, for acceptance, will be because they can then trace every transaction the crooks make. They will be able to do that of course but there will always be a way to exclude themselves.
Mot Christians know this as the Mark of the Beast but they don't recognize that we already have identification in the hand and forehead. (Thumb print-facial recognition both work instantly in my smart phones.
Of course they will. Most street level users are regular middle class white folk.
Physical money has always been an annoyance and a major thrust of technology since the cheque was invented in the 9th century. People have been insisting every change in commerce is the mark of the beast since about then too, so don’t hold your breath on that front.
