I appreciate your clarification.

I instruct my students to please refrain from using pronouns ‘cause I do not know whether they’re referring to “monkeys, moomoos, or marbles”. (As 7th-grade math students, they get a kick out of it and learn to tell me what the number/answer refers to.)
