We need to end the entire “non-profit” status. People who want to donate to a true charity will continue to do so without a tax write-off. Then all the scams and non-profits that are primarily money laundering outfits will have to follow all the laws that any other business must follow. No more “meetings” at five star resorts or celebrity golf tournaments or concerts where the expenses of the celebrities and the caviar at the dinner take almost all the money donated.
I agree, at least greatly reduce them. Most of them are set up to pay big salaries to a few people that don’t do anything good. And it should be mandatory that a charity spend at least 80% of their revenue on actual charity.
