More Yale freshmen identify as LGBTQ than conservative, survey finds

Queer freshmen greatly outnumber conservatives at the university, according to a survey

A Yale Daily News survey of freshmen students at that university found that more students of the class of 2022 identify on the LGBTQ spectrum than as conservative, and that queer freshmen even outnumber other sizable demographics in the class, such as Protestants and Catholics.

The paper's survey, the results of which are composed of 864 respondents, or just over one-half of the freshman class, found that only nine percent of respondents identified as "somewhat conservative," with one percent identifying as "very conservative." LGBTQ respondents, on the other hand, greatly outnumbered conservatives in total: According to the survey, "nearly 5 percent [of respondents] identify as gay and just over 9 percent as bisexual or transsexual. Three percent opted not to answer, and the remaining 8 percent identified as asexual, ace spectrum or questioning their sexual orientation."

A 2018 Gallup poll estimated that 4.5 percent of all Americans identified as LGBTQ.

Liberal students in the class of 2022 also greatly outnumber conservatives on campus, according to The Daily News's findings.

"Nearly three-fourths" of surveyed students identified as liberal, with thirty percent identifying as "very liberal." These disparities are mirrored in the faculty composition at Yale: A 2017 Daily News survey of Yale professors found that three-quarters identified as liberal while less than 10 percent identified as conservative. Over 90 percent of faculty members in the humanities identified as liberal while that number hovered in the mid-60s for STEM faculty.

Does this mean that more LGBwhatevers attend college than regular guys?

Sounds like college is a good place to stay the hell out of.

What is it that connects intelligence to people with no intelligence at all?

A poster on another website made the following observation, I thought it is a good one:

"Not really that big of a deal. My wife’s theory is that folks who can’t even get a date with anyone of the opposite gender (much less manage to get laid) just say that they are homosexuals rather than complete failures.

The culture today tolerates “preference” better than inability to close the deal. They won’t be getting any either way, but at least they get a peer group to hang around with, especially in academia. Lots of broken toys in that environment."

Does anyone else not see a problem with the methodology of this survey? Unless being LGBTQ is proved to be mutually exclusive to being conservative this survey is worthless.

Regarding hygiene in restaurants, in my 20’s I was hired to clean the carpet at a Chinese restaurant. Went into the kitchen to get some water...never seen anything so filthy! Huge pots with old oil in them, cockroaches, etc.

Took me a long time to eat Chinese after that.
