The political leaders coming from around the world for Gov. Jerry Browns climate action summit this week will grapple with a lot of urgent deadlines to drive down emissions, but one date is especially exasperating.
It is 2035 the year advocates aim to kill off production of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles.

In their warped minds ..only they can lead us because only they have the ability to decide.
Only they should have power..only they should live in opulence.
Due to their superior minds or because destiny has chosen them.
The little people are unable to appreciate much less enjoy their genius much less opulence.
I don't know where you live... they already do that here in the urban areas of the great Pacific Northwest.
A gallon of gasoline holds the equivalent of 36.6 kwh of energy. A gallon of diesel holds the equivalent of 41.1 kwh of energy. A typical Tesla 40 kwh battery stores approximately 36 kwh of “usable” energy in 6800 “18500” lithium ion cells and can be purchased new from Tesla for approximately $40,000 if you bought one of their cars. So a Tesla battery is basically a $40,000 one gallon gas can.
No smog testing here in SE Missouri. The difference, though, between what you deal with now and what could happen, is they will make the smog tests impossible to passwith no grandfathered provision for really old vehicles.
They have forced a lot of old off the road here, but you are correct... currently if you have a car more than 25 years old you do not have to get them emissions tested anymore.
I don’t know why, but it’s hard to believe that they can still write things this stupid. There is no mention of the fact that even if every vehicle in California were electric, it would have almost no impact on the climate, even according to the deeply flawed models. There’s no mention of the massive environmental problems that battery technology is creating, from the mineral mining, to manufacturing, to disposal. They talk about the transition of power plants as a model, but there’s no mention of the role of fracking and natural gas in bringing down carbon emissions in the power generation industry, nor that the U.S. has because of that reduced our carbon emissions more than any other country, including all of those supposedly committed to doing so under the Paris Accords.
But yes, there are plenty of quotes from self-interested politicians and global warming crony capitalists in support of this inane effort.
What does Moonbeam care if this flops spectacularly? He'll be dead.

11 Sept: Washington Examiner: Report: Obama climate change aides in shadow cabinet to thwart Trump
by Paul Bedard
A shadow government made up of former Obama climate change aides and funded by wealthy environmental advocates is supplementing liberal governors in an off-the-books operation to help them win approval of sweeping global warming changes and defy President Trump, according to a new investigative report.
In its Government for Rent report, the Competitive Enterprise Institute published dozens of emails detailing the scheme and the efforts by governments to have the activists draw up official state climate change agenda paid for by private donations.
The report, written by Christopher C. Horner, a senior fellow CEI, focuses on this weeks Global Climate Action Summit hosted by California Gov. Jerry Brown and co-chaired by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, United Nations representatives, and others, that is being produced by outside interests...
Emails in the report reveal that the national effort has a potential $50 million pricetag to be paid by wealthy environmentalists such as Bloomberg and Tom Steyer...
The documents, obtained through open records requests, show non-profit groups acting as well-compensated pass-through entities for donors to fund climate change work, directly hiring staff and providing other assets, in governors offices in California, New York, and Washington, said CEI.
In some cases, the shadow cabinet is run in offices directly next to state offices in Washingtons Hall of States complex three blocks from the Capitol...

I just WISH - dearly wish - that every industry outside Californicate that it tries to decimate or eliminate - fuels, guns, ammo, beverages, etc. - would just stop selling their products into the whole state. No guns/ammo to ANY state dept, no fuel, no Coke, no anything. I think the state would turn bright red very quickly. And hang the libtards in effigy, if not for real.
The Barrett response.
Ain’t gonna happen in California; we’ll all just do like the WETBACKS, steal a current license plate sticker off a “rich” guys car.
Or take the ticket, with 60 different FALSE addresses, “WHO THEY GONNA CALL”.
It won’t be MOONBEAM.
Yeah; but I can put 8 out of 10 in the black at 500 meters, can they?
(for some reason I always rush about 2)
