I love Renée Fleming and I love Irish music, so I did sneak a look at the YouTube of her singing "Oh, Danny Boy." But in spite of the string quartet, which I usually also love, and the acoustics in the NatCat, which are impressive, it really wasn't a very good rendition, especially the final note, and also the camerawork, lingering grossly tastelessly on closeups of Cindy McCain instead of on the musicians. Saw all I needed to see of that ill-considered spectacle.
McCain tossed to Obama, is more like it.
He really, deep down, didn't want it bad enough to put himself in a position to be criticized by the general public.
