DETROIT — The bishop who officiated Aretha Franklin’s funeral apologized Friday to Ariana Grande for how he touched her onstage and a joke he made about her name.
Bishop Charles H. Ellis III led Franklin’s funeral and awkwardly greeted Grande on stage after she performed “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” Images of the moment showed Ellis’ hand holding Grande well above her waist, with his fingers pressing against one side of her chest.
The preacher apologized in an interview with The Associated Press at the cemetery where Franklin was interred late Friday.

Ariana Grande is feeling the devastation that Hillary Clinton supporters around the country are experiencing in the wake of the Democratic candidate's loss to Donald Trump in the presidential election, but she still has a sense of hope.
The "Side to Side" singer shared an image of a United States map that showed how the Electoral College votes may have turned out had only her generation, ages 18 to 25, voted on Nov. 8. Although this is a graphic that was developed weeks before the election (from a significantly smaller pool size than the 69 million millennials eligible to vote this year), all but eight states were completely blue on the map -- which hints that an Electoral College win by the Republican Party may not happen again in the future. After admitting that she had spent many hours crying over the election's outcome, Grande offered a little light in the dark, as well as a plea to her fans.
"It restores my hope a little bit that this is what our generation's vote looked like. It says to me that better times are coming….. we just have to stick together right now," she wrote in the caption.
Yes. To be accurate, she did not spit on the donuts. She licked a bunch while the clerk’s back was turned. Donuts that would then be sold to other customers. And then she mouthed her words of hatred for our country. A total classless act who thinks she is just so clever because she is rich and famous. I hope every time her name is mentioned this crude deed is mentioned as well. She is sorry that she was caught on video. Not that she did it in the first place.
Noted that the Clintons attended the funeral. Was A. Franklin a supporter of Hillary? Or do they crash any funeral where there are cameras to cash in on the publicity?

That was perhaps the most “real” apology I’ve read in a long time. I honestly don’t think he was copping a feel. One has to look at it context—he put his arm around everyone I saw during the concert/funeral highlights.
He did not say say the BS line:”If I offended....” which really means I am only sorry if you are angry. That is NOT an apology.
I know we don’t get to vote, but I core to give him a pass.
The over the top funeral thing is foreign to me too. But that is the culture. I’ve seen local Sunday services go two hours. I love going to one local AME church because the “spirit” is there and the music is great. But damn...it takes all day. Church services with built in breaks is weird to a lot of folks.

I have a friend who is now a preacher - former Tony Award winning actor! I’ve been to many black services that he’s arranged but I never saw one singer dressed like a hooker.

my step grandaughter leaves the house in shorts up to here, and a top cut down to there. Her mom/ grandma don’t care. when she’s out with me she puts on clothes or we don’t go out.

and on another note-”hot” is way overused and over rated. most of the hotties are not even remotely good looking, they just show their nether regions ( mostly not toned nether regions) in public. Guys will look at anything!
