The Left Still Doesn’t Know Why It’s Losing
American Spectator ^ | August 27, 2018 | David Catron

Posted on 08/28/2018 12:04:09 PM PDT by Twotone

In Reagan’s America: Innocents at Home, Garry Wills described the 40th President’s relationship with the voters as “a kind of complicity,” implying that Reagan and the electorate had colluded to commit some sort of crime. The offense was, of course, their mutual refusal to imbibe the propaganda ladled out by the liberal establishment and the media. This defiance caused Reagan and his supporters to be written off by their “betters” as a collection of cretins. History proved precisely the opposite, but the Beltway brain trust never absorbed the lesson. They are thus repeating their error with President Trump and his supporters.

In the New York Times, for example, Charles Blow advises us that the President has hijacked the GOP and now presides over a reign of terror that prevents “mainstream Republicans” from taking a stand against him. Having difficulty remembering a Times writer acknowledging the existence of “mainstream Republicans?” The Gray Lady’s editorial position has long been that the GOP is a gang of dirty rotten scoundrels whose sole mission is to do down widows and orphans on behalf of rightwing robber barons and rabid racists. Blow would have us believe that, under Trump, the GOP base has further devolved into a national threat:

Republicanism is Trumpism, with no daylight between them. Traditional Republicans are now afraid to stand on principle because they do so at great peril of being drummed out of politics. The voters are now Trump’s noxious base, ergo Trump holds each of their fates in his hands.… Viewed that way, Trump’s base itself becomes the enemy of the Republic.

I love Charles Blow.

May he become more miserable after November.

They don’t understand this at all. We can use that as our strength to defeat them.

Trump voters are daily reminded that, at best, they are second class citizens. That pisses them off...

One of the upshots of the electronics revolution is that this spew hits every middle-class and working-class home every time the television is turned on, and it never ceases. This sort of contempt used to be decently isolated in upper-class salons and editorial boards, never to reach the unwashed ears. That simply isn't true anymore. And the people doing it wonder why the targets of it are angry?

No one mentions The Republican Revolution, 1994 (Gingrich Revolution):

- net gain of 54 seats in the House of Representatives
- pickup of eight seats in the Senate

The Republicans offered an alternative to Clinton's policies in the form of the Contract with America

Republicans had not held the majority in the House for forty years, since the 83rd Congress (elected in 1952)

I’ve heard stories over the years, in which elitist liberal types, have said, to paraphrase:

How did Nixon get elected? I don’t know anyone who voted for him.

How did Ronald Reagan get elected? I don’t know anyone who voted for him.

Some of these people live in their bubble, and just don’t know what is going on outside their bubble.

And this is very true of our media, as they report from the New York Washington axis.

It’s obviously because the Democrats aren’t doing enough. They need a fresh infusion of socialism and anti-Americanism. They need to blame white people more, while supporting with greater enthusiasm Muslim radicals and illegal alien drug gangs. Until they do that, they will continue to lose elections to racist capitalists like Trump.

They don’t understand this at all. We can use that as our strength to defeat them.

Whenever you can predict your opponents response (in this case the media) you can bet them. The media's response is close to 100% predictable thus they can be set up at any time.

We need to convince them to openly push their goals of impeaching Trump and raising taxes!

The left thinks that attacking Trump on petty things will cause him to lose his support... not realizing that Trump didn’t get elected because he was “Trump” (unlike Obama). Trump got elected because Trump has a policy... America First... period.... Unapologetically, without reservation or stipulation.

Because Trump’s support does not simply come from the fact that Trump is Trump... but because his policy stands are those his supporters have yearned fro for nearly 2 decades or more.. They are not going to take down Trump with some petty attacks on Trump’s character of behavior.

The man is twice divorced, and came up in NYC real estate and development... There is no doubt you will find process issues with Trump’s past... and failings in his person behavior... but that is not why Trump has support.... again (unlike Obama) Trump is supported for what he is doing and stands for, not for who he is.

Obama was the ultimate Cult of Personality.... left wants to believe that is what Trump is, but its not....and therein is why they will keep failing.

To the left a “mainstream republican” is a democrat who got elected in a red district by putting an R by his name.

There is ONLY 1 person who can stop Trump, and that’s Trump. He ever betrays the America First Agenda, his support will crumple instantly... However, all the complaints about his personal character or petty snipes, or porn stars looking for a payout and attention... won’t do diddly.

Honestly on the sexual thing its comical watching the left trying to play moral outrage over sexual behavior... the people who glorified a known Pedophile of Harvey Milk... Who put a Rapist in the White House (Clinton) and told us a Boss and his Intern whooping it up in the office while on the public dime was just private business.... ignored the outrageous and known behavior of some of their biggest donors... suddenly want to tell everyone else to be outraged over someones adult and consentual sexual activities?

Trump is the only person who can stop Trump... That has been true since the day he announced he was running for the Presidency.

The left just isn’t crazy enough. They need to ratchet-up the hate rhetoric.

We need to convince Democrats to relentlessly push their goals of impeaching Trump and raising our taxes!

I like it ......

And they should encourage Obama, Michele, Maxine and Nancy to take the show on the road to play to thousands of adoring crowds (smirk).

Give them some credit. It’s not easy to appear sane as you spout non-stop lies, misrepresentations and revisionist history, all while exuding a false air of self-righteousness and intellectual superiority.

this last election cycle was about this being the “”Age of readily available information””. a lot of the Politicians 50 years or older do not understand this concept. They don’t understand that if they are critical openly at a event or fundraiser that there is a good chance it will be reported on. they also don’t understand that anything they say in the news is archived and referd back to in social media....we hear the term Low information voters but I have another term “”High information voter””. theses are the voters who research what they hear and draw there own conclusions...Most conservatives are high information voters and liberalism depends on a lack of information of the voters so they don’t fully understand the ramifications of what they are voting for and advocating...because of this I see the Demacrat party going the way of the Whig’s because of this in 8-12 years as more of the electret wake up to what’s going on.

I was watching Mark Levin interview Katie Povlich and Candice Owens on the subject of conservativism. Candice Owens said something interesting - kind of Ronald Reaganiish:

She said “The facts of life are conservative”. Her point was that the realities we encounter, including our own nature, tend to make us conservative. The need to compete, survival instincts, personal tastes and preferences and attractions, individuality, fear and avoidance of pain and displeasure, attraction to what is familiar. All of these characteristics are naturally occurring and must be suppressed in order for liberalism to exist.

Human beings who are not brainwashed are naturally conservative.

This is why Trump’s war on political correctness is so important and opened up so many doors for conservativism.

Trump doesn’t need their money, he is not afraid of them, he doesn’t need their approval, he doesn’t even care if they hate his guts. All of this makes Donald Trump impossible to brainwash and therefore the perfect Petri dish for conservatism. Conservatism oozes out of his pores because conservatism is individuality, conservatism is unvarnished human nature, conservatism is common sense.

This is why the Left is losing in the age of Trump. He is shamelessly un-brainwashable and he’s showing us how. How not to care what they think.
