While lurking on another site, it was mentioned that 43 Republican incumbents are not running for re-election.
Whether that means that they are not up for re-election, or have decided to retire is unknown to me.
Anyone have the numbers?

It wouldn’t surprise me if there were that many dirty Republicans, unfortunately.

Others have said these are Republican committee chairmen who are term-limited out from remaining chairmen and they don't want to go back to being ordinary Congressmen, so they are choosing to walk away instead.

Whether that means that they are not up for re-election, or have decided to retire is unknown to me. All the seats in the House are up for re-election. As for Republicans, 3 Senators have decided not to run for re-election, 26 House members are not running for re-election, and 12 House members have decided to run for other offices. Total of 41 vacant Republican seats. By comparison, 10 Democrats are not running and 8 are running for other offices.
