All federal judges are automatically licensed to carry. Some refuse and they get the marshalls. Since he just now has one, I’m guessing he’s been carrying for sometime. I think Texas judges are required to carry. In Kansas they are allowed.

This - even though the gruberment would stop at NOTHING to get someone who carried out an attack on a feral thudge.
