No, the problem in the whole mess isn’t that homos managed to infiltrate and abuse minors. Catholics keep making it about the abuse and comparing themselves to others to prove they are not so bad.
It does happen everywhere and people need to be vigilant for it.
But the problem in Catholicism is not so much that the abuse happened, but how it was handled. And we keep reiterating that point and Catholics as a whole keep ignoring it and finger pointing at others to prove they are not so bad.
In my experience in the 40+ years as an Evangelical, any time there’s an issue of morality, it’s been dealt with. I don’t see the large scale cover up in any other denomination like has happened in Catholicism.
What’s going on in Catholicism with the cover up involved rivals the cover up involving the Clinton’s and Podesta.
THAT’S the bigger issue. The abuse is bad enough.
The way it was handled was reprehensible.
Spot on. If these were Protestant ministers, they’d have been booted out by their congregations and turned over to Law Enforcement. The RCC just shifts them from parish to parish.
From other threads we’ve seen on FR this is not a novel or a recent problem for Roman Catholicism. It’s goes back a long, long, long time.
