Recording the White House Chief of Staff, without his (or anyone's) knowledge in a secure SCIF?

It's not a question as to whether that's a felony punishable by prison time.

At the least she should be called in and questioned though I believe serious charges should be filed.

Why is the WH afraid to go after her? Are they worried she'll become a martyr and be seen as a victim of the President?

The longer they wait to act the less credibility they have.

“...if any federal laws were violated...”?!?!?

WTF kind of weasely mush-mouth BS is this? It’s patently obvious she broke sort sort of penalty-bearing prohibition here.

Every SCIF I heard about, or even had proximity to, was death on any type of recording device - even before cellphones!

And I’ve been in a few non-SCIF classified briefings where everybody deposited their cellphone in an envelope with their name on it and left it at the door before they could even enter the room.

Any sort of a recording/transmitting device would have resulted in swift cultural rearrangement to a striped suit and your very own personal rock pile, three hots and a cot included.

Sounds like time for equal opportunity prosecution.
