This would be an incredible mistake.

The Chicago police need to deal with this. This is nothing like what Eisenhower did. The NG troops were sent in to keep the peace, and diffuse what could be an explosive situation.

Sending the NG is in effect, sending them into a war zone. The dems would LOVE to see troops sent by President Trump open fire on poor, oppressed minorities.

The National Guard are NOT peace officers.

The only way for Trump to commit the NG to Illinois would be for him to federalize it. Once that is done, then it is a component of the US Army. The Posse Comitatus Act forbids units of the Army and Air Force from enforcing civil law.

For Trump to commit troops under the authority of Article IV, Section 4, (which deals with protecting the states from invasion and domestic violence) an application of the state legislature or executive for such aid must be received first, or if the local government has entirely ceased to function.

Unfortunately, the sheer incompetence and ineffectiveness by progressive Democrat governments is not sufficient for unilateral action by Trump.

Another point: Eisenhower sent federal troops into Little Rock to enforce a FEDERAL court order. Murder is purely a state and local matter. Just unleash the Chicago cops. They know who the players are, and are fully capable of quelling MOST of this violence. The racial industrial complex and PC are preventing that at the moment.
