People and countries become dependent on handouts, i.e., welfare in any form....Turkey is apparently no different. This President is seeing to it that his country, America, is fairly treated and treats fairly in return.

The Turkish government has declared war on a Christian pastor. Trump is standing up for the man.
I doubt we will see liberals praise that action.

Does this mean Bammy gave the turks favorable treatment?

Trump is playing George Soros’s game, but for the people and not for himself.

Time to vacation in Turkey. I went there in May and July this year. What a bargain. Even Turkish Air is a cheap flight across the pond.

This makes me very happy and I don’t mind the temporary hit to my portfolio by Wall Street overreaction.
Trump is serving notice to autocrats worldwide that you will not jail or harm innocent US citizens without consequences. Little rocket man NORK was told in no uncertain terms that we would not permit another Otto Warmbier and he quickly came to the table.
More winning.

I worked with an Armenian-American builder years ago who lost family in The Armenian Genocide of 1915. He hated them. He said Turks will offer you a toast that goes “To you your honor’’. And after that he chuckled and added, “Because a Turk has none.’’

Erdogan assures that this a false panic, and if there is anything to panic about, its Trump's fault.

More than cutting off welfare, Turkey has been working directly against our interests in Syria and Iraq. We finally have a leader who is willing to push back and ensure those who oppose us know there is a price to be paid. If Turkey wants to cozy up with Russia and Iran, good luck with that. You ain’t dealing with Obama or the Clinton Foundation any more...

Poor things! turkey is NOT our ally! If they kick out the muzzies and go back to being a secular republic, then they can be our friends.

I like this power move by President Trump, but the drop in the Lira is being driven primarily by economic turmoil in Turkey itself with inflation hitting double-digits and Erdogan stubbornly pledging NOT to raise interest rates in order stem the inflationary tide. Additionally; he recently made some changes domestically that would give him more of a hands-on role in setting economic and interest rate policy in Turkey (which is when the downslide in the Turkish Lira began). To top it all off, he replaced Turkey's former finance minister with his son-in-law to ensure that he had a reliable puppet to carry out his edicts.
The US sanctions for failing to release the pastor and the additional tariffs were just additional fuel to the fire.
