Come on...Tens of thousands of greedy unscrupulous employers who've hired tens of millions of low wage illegal servants will claim Americans are lazy, shiftless, drugged up and good for nothing. Of course. The reality is, they're freaking over the thought of paying fair livable wages with Trump destroying 30+ years of their low wage chain immigration and millions of low wage illegals.

Look at trucking. They too are screaming they can't get drivers. How qualified to ya have to be to drive in a truck all day? It's not rocket science. Everyone knows, if ya pay more money, you get more applicants/ employees. That's the way the system works.

Amen to that FRiend.

55yo, masters degree in physics and 30 years experience in aerospace. Can’t get past the second interview. I know more than they do, have more experience than they do could teach them a great deal... but all they see is that you raise the average age of their workforce and thereby their insurance premiums

I can assure you, they don't want people over 50.

They have to pay them too much and possibly offer some kind of medical benefits...And they're too much of a liability. Forget that...They then hire some 24 year old know nothing who hasn't a clue and they'll pay him half the money.

and marijuana is the weekend party drug.”””

IF it does take up to 4 weeks to clear MJ from your system:

Let’s pretend that you & I are partners in -—a flower shop. We have a need for drivers for the 2 delivery vans we own. The employees who do the arranging of our flowers do not drive the delivery vans.

These delivery vans go to funeral home-—hospitals-—weddings—anniversary parties & other locations. They are all over town at any time of the day.

IF those ‘drivers’ wish to partake of MJ & it is still in their system for up to 4 weeks——

HOW do WE put such a driver into OUR company van & turn them loose on the streets ???????

IF there is any kind of an accident from a fender bender to worse, that driver will be tested for drugs—mandatory—and OUR insurance will be in jeopardy or CANCELLED outright.

Then WE are on the hook for thousands of $$$ of damage & the viability of OUR investment into OUR business is up in smoke...REALLY-—UP IN SMOKE !!!

Drug testing is widespread, and most insurance companies REQUIRE that it be done..Often & random & mandatory.

SKIP the tests? The insurance is teetering on the edge of cancellation. ALL because a ‘driver’ cannot leave drugs alone.

SURE-—it has been deemed legal for recreational use——but since it lingers in the system-—the employer gets stuck with such an employee for days more.

I would be drug testing at least once a week-—and the employee would be paying for it if they failed. OUT of a job & the test deducted from last paycheck.

BTW- NOT sure how it works in every state, but in California you CAN REVEAL to a prospective new employer for that fired employee you had to let go: STEALING——DRUG USE-—ALCOHOL USE.

SOOOOO=- losing any job due to failing a drug test can stay with your employment history for a very long time.

AND A CDL driver gets tested -—mandatory—at random—and often.

Get caught dirty? You will be left where ever that test took place.....even if it is 3000 miles from your home.

IF you think that driving truck is so easy-—YOU go get a CDL & get one of those jobs. I hear $80,000 is on the low side for pay. BTW- IF you have not ever heard of ELD-—Electronic Logging Devices-—you will be plugged into one all the time.

YOU WILL BE TESTED-—often—at random—and mandatory. Refuse the test & you will be walking away from that truck where ever it is at that time.

I have been a bookkeeper/accounting person for over 55 businesses since 1980-—self employed. I only encountered ONE employer who had any illegals working there. I told him to get another bookkeeper. I would not sign papers knowing that.

IF everyone wants to use ‘recreational drugs, the insurance companies have a right to demand clean employees. The company must provide that clean employee or be out of business.

In my experience, the employee has NO INVESTMENT in the company. They don’t care.

A small aside-— I was asked to teach a junior in HS some basic bookkeeping skills-—keep a checkbook register-—know how to read common monthly bills-—know how to read a credit card statement-—a bank statement.

He realizes that he is 2 years away from leaving home & living elsewhere & that HE will have to pay bills himself & he isn’t getting ANY kind of such education in high school.

I sat him down at the dining room table. I got a 10-key calculator with a paper roll for a printed set of numbers from my office.

When I set it on the dining room table-—he asked:

‘WHAT IS THAT? I have never seen anything like that before.’

I told him that was a calculator....

He said-—”I HAVE ONE OF THOSE ON MY PHONE. AND IT IS SMALLER!”

I asked him where he could get the printed tape totals from.

That stopped him.

He is 16— quite bright—and had never seen such a calculator before.

The schools we pay dearly for are failing these kids.

I don’t know what you’ve been doing at $20 an hour, but you seem to be bragging you’ve been severely taken advantage of. If you’ve been willing to put those hours in at those rates, because your business has been appreciating, that has nothing to do with what I’ve posted. Otherwise, it’s time to raise your rates, find new clients, or find a new line of work.

But even so, you’ve cited twice the hourly rate I referenced and about three times the billable hours.... so that’s six times more income.

Did I say it was easy?

Or did I say it wasn't rocket science?

Get it right!

Btw, 80k is chicken feed after taxes. Go live on the road dealing with ice, blizzards, cops, epic traffic, get fat sitting on your azz 10 hours per day and you tell me if it's worth having zero life for 45k after taxes..

I challenge you to start your own business & keep hiking the wage.

I will pay what it takes to get the right employee not bitch like a little girl and try to artificially hold down wages with illegal immigration, legal immigration and/or cut down fellow Americans calling them all drug addicted losers F U.

It’s totally a wage issue. It’s the law of supply and demand.

Very much agree. I’ve seen employers use every excuse in the book in an effort to avoid paying a decent wage for work performed. As a general rule, they’ll screw employees anytime they think they can get away with it. Yep, these are the same unscrupulous SOB’s who’ve literally hired tens of *millions* of low wage illegals..

Then once their low wage illegal golden goose is threatened to be reduced or eliminated by Trump policies, they scream and cry they can’t find any help because American workers are good for nothing lazy drugged out scum!

Pathetic...

Profits regardless of consequences.

>> Right. Someone you “feel” reasonably confident won’t steal from you. And those feelings are based on what, exactly?<<

To a large degree, past history, plus what I might know about how he was raised. Somebody with a history of criminal activity, raised in a culture that makes it OK to steal from people who are not regarded as being of the same community, I would regard as a poor risk.

I’d believe you if you were describing ONE candidate. Maybe even a few. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve gotten applications from SEVERAL felons. But the issue is whether they ALL are felons or druggies.

the problem with marijuana is that although cannabinoids are in the bloodstream for four weeks, they are below psychoactive levels.

How ever unlike alcohol, there is no test for “being high” or not. The person who has an accurate test of amount of cannabinoids in a blood sample, and the expected impairment will be an instant billionaire.

The minute this occurs I can see the federal government lifting restrictions and insurance companies permitting marijuana users to work. I don’t think anyone cares if people use, it is they are concerned with impairment.
