Freepers: Wonder if the Russians, who have excellent relations with North Korea deployed any North Korean special forces in Syria? Any insights?

I recommend that they send Infantry.

Welcome to the quagmire that is the Middle East. They could not have picked a sticker spot to dip their toe.

China has consolidated a ring of enemies in Asia, but there remain some in the Middle East who have not yet been agitated to open enmity against China.

These must be their target.

If they think that this would be an easy way to poke Uncle Trump in the eye, wait until they see how sticky getting out is.

China is itching to get their military any sort of combat experience. Their armed forces are made up for the most part by conscripts. Combat experience is not all they need to address. Their maintenance practices are awful and on par with the Russians.

They want exposure to the US’ electronic order of battle, similar to how they did in Bosnia.

Where we finally had our “most unfortunate GPS malfunction”.

(Provisional HQ of Serb Intel was apparently being run out of the Chinese Embassy)

The Chinese need to suppress muslim radicals if they want their One Belt/New Silk Road rail/road/pipeline project across central Asia to come to fruition.

I was wondering what was going to get the army 100 million strong to march to the Euphrates.

I think the U.S. has been on the wrong side of this Syrian situation since the beginning. Thanks to stupid Obama deciding to support the terrorists.

This has nothing to do with poking Uncle Sam in the eye. It is about killing fanatical jihadists from China, and China’s way of creating allies by contributing infrastructure, rebuilding, and building as in “The New Silk Road”.

China has done that in other countries burdened with the effects of regime change by the West. It creates allies, as opposed to toppling government’s, and destroying countries.

They are both tactics, but the Chinese one will work better in the long run, IMHO.

China is itching to get their military any sort of combat experience.

THAT was my first thought. I can't find it now. But several months ago, there was a thread about China's military capabilities. There I posted that China is lacking a VERY important component to military capability, EXPERIENCE.

Think of just America's evolution and combat strategies since the Korean War (China's last real engagement - sorta). Our military does adapt and alter readiness using technology and tactics. The whole coordination and collaboration between ground and air support is 3 generations different than when China last fought a war. And no amounting of planning can prepare for the fog of war and the contingency planning.

I read part of a book once (lol) about military strategy failures of the Japanese in WWII. US Soldiers had commanders in the fight and directing movements and actions as battles ensued. Japanese fighters often had orders to follow and a leader. US soldiers were given objectives. Japanese soldiers were given directions. BONZI! (paraphrasing)

Could be the reason those Christian killing jihadist rebels collapsed so quickly. To the eternal shame of the United States the surviving Christian remnant in the Mideast owes their continued existence to Putin and Russia. No rational or decent person will ever forgive Obama.
