If someone was disrespecting/barking at my wife, I might very well react just like McGlockton.

Lots of assumptions here, how do we know he was barking at/disrespecting this person, do we have audio? I believe violently shoving a person to the pavement should be a reaction to an imminent threat, physical threat - do we know that to be the case?

The guy who was killed had come up from behind the shooter and shoved him (sucker shove, if you will) him down into the ground.

I don’t know....

No it didn’t a coward with a gun killed him...

It was “stand your ground” that will let that coward get away with murder.

well, it is time to inject a little humor into this sad situation
.
who can make a haiku out of the details?
.
McGLOCKton
not really a thug
got paid for his push
usually it is a Glock that delivers the slug

“If I am the guy on the ground, yep, I’m going to use deadly force to stop deadly force. “

Assessing that an unarmed guy two yards from you is using deadly force against you is at best irrational, at worse stupid. I hope you (the trigger happy killer) will pay dearly the rest of your life and afterlife for taking the life of someone based on such poor judgment.

Oh and spare us your tired “take some self-defence training” trope. I have had some years of Judo and Krav Maga and I can tell you are telling BS.

What was the title of the article again?

Gray Man,

Was taught that way. Raised that way. Act that way.

Till it is time not to be that way.

A parking violation is small potatoes. My bride will lose her cake over that though. I once stood next to a rather large gentleman while his wife and mine screamed at each other, trying to figure out which one of use would tell the mamma bears to knock it off.

Big biker guy, and I am not small. But we both were very uncomfortable that our wives seemed to have no issue making a scene over a similar issue.

Agree.

Nothing matters in this situation except the attack on the shooter and his state of mind. Period. Not a handicapped parking space, not previous instances (if even true) by the shooter at the store, not that he was talking to the girlfriend through the window. None of that matters. Only that he was in fear for his life after being attacked.

he will not be charged.

Right. Quite a few freepers here that are loving making up scenarios and actions that they have no proof of (and keep repeating it over and over and over). He was screaming at the wife, attacking the wife, always at the parking lot policing it, did it a bunch more times...yada yada.

There is no substantiated proof of any of that and until such time people should only use the facts they have and all there is currently, is the video. The video shows he was justified to shoot.

so you have no concern that a felony holding thug shoved him off his feet into the pavement first? that doesn’t enter your concerned mind?

the coward is the thug that sucker shoved him. He caused his own death.

Lots of assumptions here....

As far as I know there is no audio. If the conversation between Drejka and McGlockton's wife/girlfriend was respectful or abusive, we don't know.

WT News reported that this was not the first time Drejka had faced someone in the parking lot. "He basically threatened to shoot me that day too," said a regular shop customer, who had a similar experience with the shooter.

What we do know by the video is that once the gun was displayed, McGlockton stopped and then starts back-stepping. As far as I know, stand your ground does allow shooting an unarmed man who is retreating.

First hand account witnesses are often inaccurate. Other things we might know, if the guy who pushed the shooter had any criminal arrests and convictions?

"Assessing that an unarmed guy two yards from you is using deadly force against you is at best irrational, at worse stupid."

Have you read the FL self defense law? Nope, you haven't.

Here, I've excerpted it for you with bold for your assistance:

776.012 Use or threatened use of force in defense of person.

...

(2) A person is justified in using or threatening to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. A person who uses or threatens to use deadly force in accordance with this subsection does not have a duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground if the person using or threatening to use the deadly force is not engaged in a criminal activity and is in a place where he or she has a right to be.

History.—s. 13, ch. 74-383; s. 1188, ch. 97-102; s. 2, ch. 2005-27; s. 3, ch. 2014-195.

"Only that he was in fear for his life after being attacked."

That's not true. A subjective fear is not the standard for legal self-defense.

Seems to clear pretty well all the police shooting inquiries.

“Florida changed their law to avoid such situations. The threat of force in self defense is treated the same as actually using force in self defense.”

I did not know that! That is GREAT to hear! We need to do the same thing in Texas!

In FL it is.

“A person is justified in using or threatening to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself....”

Self control: If you cannot control yourself eventually someone else will.

Learn it early and well.

Then, turning to the situation itself, it looks like the decedent gave the shooter a hard, double handed push, knocking the shooter to the ground and immediately backed off when the shooter drew his weapon.

Instead of turning towards his car and away from the shooter, to immediately drive away after pushing the shooter down, McGlockton pushed the shooter and took 3 steps toward him before the gun was pulled. I don't think McGlockton was going to put out a helping hand to get him back on his feet. Which is how the shooter will likely present his side to the story.

And I say this as someone who thinks the shooter should never have approached the woman in the handicap space.

one thing weighing on my mind..it looked to me that when he pushed the shooter he blindsided him, shooter didn’t see it coming or did he?

makes a difference to me as to state of mind-if I got blindsided instead of confronted face to face I would lean more to defending myself against an aggressor who did not play fairly and may not again..

I have seen a real fight with two bikers, one got knocked down to the cement and the guy who pushed him jumped on his chest blocking the down guys arms and he proceeded to pummel the guy including grabbing the guys hair and slamming his head against the concrete.. it could have been fatal in seconds...you never want someone to be on top of you and especially pin your arms, a gun would do you no good and neither would your fists..example hockey players grabbing opponents shirt and pulling it up over their head, blocking vision and restricting arms..now they have fight straps to stop that.

this big guy could have just walked up and told the shooter to shut up face to face...tragic no matter what..
