Down there, they see them selves as Nicaraguans, Costa Ricans, Mexicans and they don’t see the others as brothers and sisters at all.

Mexico itself has a complex caste system that rivals India in it's rigid racial delineation.

At the top are the ethnic European Mexican "Gueros" (male) or "Gueras" (female). These are white Mexicans. ("Gringo" is a white non-Mexican).

Most Americans probably had no idea there are Mexicans who look like the four young woman standing in this photo. We don't see them jumping the border fences or swimming across the Rio Grande. In Mexico, Gueros make up the elite and upper-middle classes and largely enjoy lives of comfort. Indeed, their plan to "Make Mexico Great Again" primarily involves shipping their unskilled, illiterate Mestizo underclass to us.

Totally true, these are essentially the “Spanish” descendant line and anyone with “Indian” blood is knocked down the ladder to a lesser status.

The tribes I refer to are the ancient Indian cultures of the region (Mayan, Aztec etc.) who have never really enjoyed equal status with the ruling class there.

Every trade-wind country in Latin America is set up like that; even when they elect a “native” the upper crust is all whites (usually of Spanish descent).

It’s kind of ironic, but we ‘racist’ Americans are proud of any trace of Indian blood (see Senator from Massachusetts) but Mexicans view being called ‘indio’ a serious insult. They see indios as drunk, dirty and ignorant.
