President Trump made some major missteps when meeting the queen

President Trump met with the queen of England today and committed several protocol gaffes that left many feeling that his behavior was an insult to Britain and lacked the respect that should be shown the monarch — and if not a monarch, a 92-year-old woman.

The president was soundly condemned on social media for walking in front of Queen Elizabeth as they inspected a guard of honor of the Coldstream Guards. The queen was forced to bob and weave as she caught up to walk alongside him.

Trump did appear to notice, and in the video below you’ll see that as she catches up with him, she gives the tiniest gesture with her hand, signaling to him to continue walking.

Earlier, the president and first lady Melania Trump defied protocol when they greeted the queen: They did not bow or curtsy, but instead opted to simply shake hands. It is not obligatory to bow, as Americans are not her subjects, but doing so is widely considered good manners.

He waited for her to catch up on the troop review. And he doesn’t have to do any fanny kissing since he is a friendly and head of state of a nation that has functioning aircraft carriers.

Note to self:
NEVER step foot in England and Scotland again. Take my hard earned dollars to places like Poland and Hungary.

President Trump made some major missteps when meeting the queen

No, he didn't. Since 1776, ANY British Monarch has been just another individual to Americans.

I KNOW that one is NOT supposed to touch the Queen. Was Moochelle torn apart for that breach of protocol?

I haven’t watched the video yet. Thanks for pointing that fact out. From the glimpses I saw on the news, the Queen was smiling broadly, like she was enjoying herself.

You’re probably correct. Obama bowing was certainly a protocol breach.

The President of the United States bows to no one.

Barry O. was the exception.

Yeah we don’t care. I’d be pissed if he bowed like the last loser.

Good Lord! Didn’t anyone tell her she’s not supposed to touch the Queen? As a matter of fact, when is it appropriate to grab anyone like that?

“The President of the United States did not make missteps with the Queen.
The Queen made missteps with President Trump. ”

Correct. I watched the whole thing and Trump was being very careful to show deference for the queen. When making the turn to start the review of the troops it appeared to me it was the queen who was spun not Trump. I thought both he and Melania handled themselves just fine.

If the queen is anything like the way she was portrayed by the charming young lady in The Crown, she thought nothing of it.

“Americans are not her subjects, but doing so is widely considered good manners.”

Absolute BS.

The writer has no idea the significance of bowing to the Queen of England. The President of the United States bows to no one - certainly not the English monarchy.

A mere monarch should show deference to an elected President of our republic. A president should never, ever, bow to royalty.

Why? He’s not a subject. It would have been improper for him to have done so.
