The Use - Mention distinction seems to have eluded the thinking capabilities of just about everyone. Why don’t we burn dictionaries that list the word and define it as a “hateful insulting pejorative?” Why not ban the very letters that make up its *ame? Oh, excuse me, that should be “Why *ot ba* th* v**y l*tt**s that mak* up *ts *ame?”
