Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) reiterated through a spokesman on Friday that he is still awaiting an investigation to be completed over allegations that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) knew about claims of sexual abuse involving the Ohio State University wrestling team.
"These are serious allegations and issues," Ryan's spokesman Doug Andres told USA Today in an email. "The university has rightfully initiated a full investigation into the matter. The speaker will await the findings of that inquiry."
Ryan's office had released the statement earlier this week amid the July 4 recess, but reiterated his position after more former wrestlers at Ohio State accused Jordan, a leader of the House Freedom Caucus, of knowing about alleged sexual abuse by the team doctor and not taking action.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Mark Coleman on Thursday became fifth former OSU wrestler to accuse Jordan of not taking action while serving as an assistant coach, saying that unless Jordan has "dementia" he knew about the alleged abuse.
“There’s no way unless he’s got dementia or something that he’s got no recollection of what was going on at Ohio State,” Coleman said. “I have nothing but respect for this man, I love this man, but he knew as far as I’m concerned.”
One of Jordan’s former wrestlers, Dunyasha Yetts, came forward this week and said that he and his teammates personally complained to Jordan and others about a team doctor’s inappropriate sexual behavior many times.
Jordan pushed back strongly against the accusations in a Fox News interview Friday night, arguing that conversations in the locker room did not amount to formal accusations and saying that no one directly reported abuse to him.
“Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse or reported abuse,” Jordan said Friday, adding that “no one ever reported any abuse to me.”

Jump forward to today. Something happens (or doesn't happen) 20 years ago. The man who might (or might not) have done the deed is DEAD....and can't defend himself, OR Jordan.

When I was in high school, one of the gym teachers had been rumored, for years, to be a lesbian. She would stand in the shower room, and watch us girls shower, before and after swimming. We all called her a weirdo and pervert, behind her back. That was 50 years ago. If someone came out today, and said she had molested girls, and that I knew about it, and didn’t report it, I’d be incredulous. Sure, we all called her a perv, and bantered about it, in and out the locker room. But that’s a FAR cry from having any knowledge of any actual assaults. We didn’t KNOW if she actually WAS a perv; It was just a rumor that had been circulating amongst kids, for years.
That’s what I assume Jordan is talking about. Of course, in retrospect, its going to sound like he KNEW it was happening, but of course, he didn’t. He just thought the guys were horsing around, the way kids do, calling each other, or a teacher, a perv, or gay, or wierd.
This whole thing is the result of Rosenstein telling someone to dig up some dirt on a guy who’s squeaky clean, but has publicly questioned his majesty’s veracity. Political assassination 101.

This smells very much like the smear campaign that suddenly popped up against Judge Roy Moore in Alabama. I've Googled and read several articles and can find no indication that OSU conducted an investigation between 1978 and 1998 when Strauss was an employee, or at the time of his suicide in 2005.
But here we are in 2018 and OSU is suddenly getting complaints from athletes from that era and is now conducting any investigation, or Perkins, Coie is conducting the investigation. Wonder who's paying Perkins Coie?
And the complaints involve athletes from at least 14 sports, not just the wrestling team.
Someone, somewhere had heard of the past complaints and took this opportune time to set all this in motion.

Was PAUL RYAN familiar with the sexual abuses of fellow Representative DENNY HASTART and those on the “hidden House of Representatives payoff list”? There needs to be an inquiry about what he knows and when he knew it. OPEN THE BOOKS.

great commentary and insights. Any of us who have been around sports know there is a lot of “ bantering” that goes on in locker rooms. Also the average age of most college or high school athletes is around 16- 21 so the usual group “ everyone “ knows is common place or you are out of touch.

I haven’t even heard that it’s alleged that any wrestler spoke to Jordan about abuse, Just that Jordan overheard conversations among college wrestlers. This witch hunt is so disgusting. The propaganda media certainly knows how to make a mountain out of a molehill, even if they have to makeup a lie about the molehill.
Jordan’s nephew’s single car accident reminds me of some of the unusual deaths in single car accidents on the Arkanside list. What led to the young man’s swerving so hard off the road? Is there even an investigation into that?
How about standing by your colleague until such time that an investigation proves otherwise, if it ever does. Dems stick by each other even after the evidence against them Is in. What’s in Ryan’s background?
