A dissent is a vote against the majority. Judges write dissents. They don't write noes.

I just now thought of something (wonders never cease). Could it be, that you were thinking of the word abstention instead of dissent? Sorry if my tone in that last reply was a little pushy. It’s kinda noisy at my place now.
Members of Congress abstain from votes. But a judge’s dissent is a statement against a majority decision.
