Exactly our experience. We had him from 6 weeks to 2 years of age, fully intending to adopt. Then the social workers and the crackhead birth mother upended it all when she got out of prison. From sporadic contact we had with his grandmother, he has learning disabilities and other issues, that have not been addressed. He has been in and out of his sister and grandmother’s homes,so much for keeping him with his mother.

I am sorry for your loss, and for the child’s. I know of one such case where a good foster couple, fully intending to adopt, did a heroic rehab job on a young girl and had her on solid ground before DCM came back into the picture. The couple fought to retain custody but the judge put reunification as the top priority. Within a year, the girl, now a young teenager, was addicted and DCM was prostituting her for drug money. Some judges are going to burn in hell.
