Now is the moment to revisit the legality of the U.S.-Mexico border
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | July 2, 2018 | Marcela Davison Aviles

There’s a popular saying among those of us in the Mexican American community who grew up on the border: We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us. With Sunday’s election of Andrés Manuel López Obrador as Mexico’s next president, the idea to revisit the legality of our southern border, proposed by Mexican leftist leader Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano, is suddenly not so crazy.

Actually the Mexicans did start the war.

They attacked and killed several American soldiers.

BEAUTIFUL.

Here it comes.

Knew that Obrador would signal this. He got elected by telling everyone in Mexico to move out of their towns and come here.

All his other crazy messages have fallen down over the years.

We all knew it.

But, they just admitted to it. Majority of Mexicans in Mexico think they have a right to come here. Whenever they want.

Now we get our The Wall.

Yes, Mexoc started the war. America won it, negotiated the treaty and paid Mexico 50,000,000 in gold in addition.

The border was drwn, with a revision by binational activity.

Idiots.

We remember that land was invaded and occupied.

We whooped your @ss in that war and we can do it again.”””

Well, technically Mexico had very few settlers (invaders?) in Texas and couldn’t prevent Indian incursions all the way into today’s Mexico. So they set up a system of legal immigration for Americans to come in and settle and become a buffer between the Mexicans and the Indians. The settlers had to beomce Catholic in order to qualify as legal settlers.

Lots of illegal American immigrants came in as well and soon wanted their own country that followed thier own customs and freedom of religion. They won a war and kicked the Mexican government out and founded a Republic of Texas that lasted for 10 years until Texas joing the US>

Knew that Obrador would signal this. He got elected by telling everyone in Mexico to move out of their towns and come here.

That may have been a mistranslation. He does support Mexican immigration to the US but he wasn't telling people to leave the country.

Obrador may be horrible, but it's also possible that the chronic mess Mexico is in will defeat anything he tries to do to the country.

A couple of the comments after this story were great. One person said he was busy trying to re-instate the Tsar, so he would have to get to the US-Mexico think later.

What land hasn’t been invaded and conquered by some other group at some time or other? Maybe we have to find the Garden of Eden and start from scratch.

We need a 100 mile buffer zone inside Mexico - so sure, let’s do it again. Knock down every building inside that buffer zone, put in a mine field, wall, patrol road, fortifications, additional fence. We know how to make a no man’s land - had one for decades in Europe and still have one with the Norks.

Takes a lot of pressure off Americans who own land near the current border. Huge 100 mile kill zone would put the land route for drugs out of business.

“We remember that land was invaded and occupied.”

And what’s worse, the gringos got the part with all of the paved roads.

From the last paragraph: “It’s time to fix this aspect of America’s original sin.” Nice to see them exposing how they think.

He’s always changing. Because Mexico knew he was a nut for 20 years.

Check out his most recent comments....he’s a Reconquista guy now.

He was offering pardons for drug war prisoners...

Softer police approach to the drug war....and the pardons will be a way to apologize for prosecuting it so strongly.

Best Mexican President we could have right now.

They want to recalim the entire southwest of the United States for Mexico.

They have chapters of an organization dedicating to doing that at almost every university in the United States.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MEChA

They are achiving their goal.

Their method, of course, is immigration.

If we could really go back and do it over, the best thing would have been to take all of Mexico, new states, lots of natural resources.
