So staffers don’t pass along calls and emails? My boss would kill me if I didn’t.

Not for Congresmen. You can't even email a Congressman. The only way you can contact a Congressman ( unless you have his private email ) is through the webpage on his House account. They are not read by people. They pull out keywords from the subject and they send you a form letter. Try it sometime. There are staffers and then there are "staffers". They said they contacted the office, which means it probably went to the lower level staffers - the interns, not his close staffers ( the ones who get calls from other Congressman, the WH, etc.). Who knows if this intern even logged the call let alone passed the message on. There is no proof that Jordan ever saw the message. For them to call him a liar without proof that he ever saw a message is not fair. If it were a competent law firm, they would have sent him the request on the firms letterhead via registered mail. Then they would have at least a little credibility in their claim.

So, this is a story why? This is grade A manure from a huge male bovine.

And the primary unanswered question is probably whether this was initiated by Democrats or GOPe. I'd guess GOPe.

He has only recently been contacted and it seems to be a set up. There is no proof that he was contacted in the late 1980s and 90s. You are misreading the article,

The law firm handling the law suit, Perkins Coie, is the law firm that handled the Steele Dossier for Hillary Clinton. It stinks to high heaven.
