When I was growing up on the east side of Washington there was occasionally talks about combining eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana. The talk would last for a few weeks and then die down. Nothing ever came of it because no one did anything to start the process.
I remember that. I love eastern Washington, and Montana and Idaho, where people still live and behave like human beings, and I'd like nothing better than to see them all out from under the heel of the loathsome I-5 corridor. It's a little painful when I engage people in those places, and feel the contempt they have for "the coast," but I certainly understand why.
