Doubt it. Some time ago he said he wouldn’t appoint anyone who had “campaigned” for the job (maybe not exact quote but he meant Kelli). Now, with McSally & Ward in a race for Flake’s seat, Ducey would anger 30% of all Rs by taking one or the othee.
Moreover, I heard that Ducey will nominate someone good for Ducey.
What do you hear about Ducey appointing Cindy McShame? This will enrage a lot of people, but maybe Ducey doesn’t care.
Why not bring Kelli and McSally into a room and sit down with them and say, “one of you will be appointed and one of you will have to run for Flake’s seat. The one picked will campaign like hell for the other one. I don’t care which one of you is which, I just want to keep both seats. So which of you would be more likely to win in November, and which of you wants to run again in 2020? Can you figure it out between the two of you? Or do I have to find someone else?”
