The south bashers here for decades now in various incarnations do the “who me?” mad magazine pose when confronted with monument removal as it now expands into Indian and Founders territory beyond just the CSA

I was just in Santa Fe late last night at one of the old Cathedrals off the plaza looking at the monuments to the Spaniards who conquered and proselytizer the Publeoans

I wondered when will those come down too

We are without question headed for another conflict

Minority politicians calling for physical attacks on the opposition and their families

The left calling the women in the presidents family cnuts and with little repercussion

And yet so called righties on this very forum stay fixated on slavery from 158 years ago

As does the left

Limbaugh today was illustrating that his knowledge of civil war history is at the level of a comic book edited by nikki haley

“fixated on slavery”

It takes two to tango. There are many misconceptions by readers of as you say a 158 year old conflict.

In fact the debate is much older by about 200 years at least.

I have an Iowa history book that mentions my direct ancestors, published in 1878. There is much discussion of slavery and states rights, the wealth of the southern planters being heavily taxed, etc. But the book acknowledges that active debate had been going on for many years.

The group of writers of this book state that it was the firing on Fort Sumter that got every one fighting mad.
