Good point. People will use this as an excuse to avoid prison.
Make them post a bond to show up in court with their kids in tow. Their lib friends can put up the money for bond.
Just in the last few days I read stories on the local scene about women who were stopped for DUI. Kids were in the car with them. Mom goes to jail. Kids go to social services or relatives. NEVER do they go to jail with them.
