Canada has passed a landmark law that legalises the recreational use of marijuana nationwide. The Cannabis Act passed its final hurdle on Tuesday in a 52-29 vote in the Senate. The bill controls and regulates how the drug can be grown, distributed, and sold. Canadians will be able to buy and consume the drug legally as early as this September. The country is the first in the G7 to legalise the drug's recreational use.

Congratulations, you’re going to get legal pot.

I hold no illusions it’s going to make society any better.

It'll reduce the income of cartels, which will make society better.

Less destructive than alcohol is a far cry from "absolutely nothing wrong with". Was your post dumb - or dishonest?

Neither. I pointed out that far left types are MUCH more likely to want legal pot. Trudeau is far left. As I've said before they KNOW it will destroy families and traditional culture. At least Trudeau just wants to destroy Canada....check that...having legal pot in Canada will make it easier to get in the USA..so Trudeau gets a twofer!

Hey if you keep shilling for the left long enough maybe they'll kill you last!

Good for Canada!!!

Hopefully the federal prohibition of cannabis in the US will end soon as well.

You think pot is the only drug the cartels are pushing?

“Politicians would like nothing more than a population stoned, lazy, and dependent on them. “

Prohibitionists love to throw this line out but it’s really nothing more than a fallacy. IMO, it’s another example of disordered thinking. Canada isn’t going to become anymore a “stoned, lazy” nation than they are already.

Which part of "reduce" did you not understand?

That may be true, the benefit may just be the inherent higher levels in thc remaining in the cbd oil from pot vs hemp. Or it could be the strain of tye pot vs the hemp, different strains have diferent levels of compounds.

Lots of variables when you start looking into the details.

But what will offset that will most likely be worse.

Nonsense - alcohol is more destructive than marijuana, yet both the USA and Canada have handily weathered the legality of that drug.

Gee...another person on the far left (Trudeau) who sees absolutely nothing wrong with dope. You're in good company!

Less destructive than alcohol is a far cry from "absolutely nothing wrong with". Was your post dumb - or dishonest?

Neither.

If my beliefs about marijuana - less destructive than alcohol - are different than Trudeau's - "absolutely nothing wrong with", then in what way am I in his company as you claimed?

"Oh. CANADA!"

Soon to be, Oh, Cannabis!

Our stoned and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing bongs we see thy Chinese eyes,
The True North, Oh so stoned on weed!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand so blazed for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand so blazed for thee.
O Canada, we are so ripped on weed.

But what will offset that will most likely be worse.

What "offset"? You think cartels can create demand for drugs by sheer force of will?

Not hard to dodge cars moving at 10 mph.
So true. Driving while baked will reduce speed. I have a lead foot and the speeding citations to prove it. I've found it's best to take a couple puffs (not a lot) at a rest stop when I'm on a long road trip. It allows me to set the cruise control and lay off the gas pedal.

“Politicians would like nothing more than a population stoned, lazy, and dependent on them.”

If that were so, then politicians would be leading the charge instead of dragging their feet. Until VT legalized earlier this year, all 8 legal states legalized by referendum.

Politicians, at least until very recently, have been much more on side of prohibitionists than the people.

The only thing I notice about legal pot here this year is that EVERY DAY you smell it on the freeways. I don’t know how we are ever going to Police stoned driving.
