Don’t dare laugh. Since the Revolution the name ENTERPRISE has been a proud part of the U.S. Military. i believe there was an early Enterprise, possibly a “privateer” fighting for us.
Then the Enterprise of WWII, which at one very bad time was the ONE and ONLY carrier able to keep up the fight. She was often called the “GREY GHOST”.
The Enterprise was the FIRST of the nuclear carriers and is reaching the end of her glorious career, and added further glory to her name.
The name was further honored by the naming of Star Cruiser 1701 the ENTERPRISE.
I think any Navy vet, aware of the name’s history has a warm place in his heart for that revered bit of history.
I revere the name ENTERPRISE!
ex-USS Enterprise (CVN-65)has been decommissioned and is pierside at HII Newport News awaiting disposal instructions.
The next Enterprise, to-be CVN-80 Enterprise, will be the third of the Ford-class Aircraft Carriers.
The first space shuttle (strictly a glider for test purposes ) was named enterprise
The first Enterprise, if I recall correctly, was a British ship seized by Benedict Arnold and turned into a warship.
