More relevant than national GDP amounts would be the amounts of exports to and imports from the US and the resulting size of TRADE SURPLUS with the US.
The bigger a countrys trade surplus with the US, the greater its vulnerability to a tit-for-tat trade war with the US. CHINA is particularly vulnerable to MASSIVE ECONOMIC DAMAGE from any tit-for-tat TARIFF increases with the US. Trump KNOWS that and China is in the process of learning that Trump knows it and, more importantly, China is also learning that TRUMP IS NOT AFRAID OF PULLING THE TRIGGER.
