Empirically, the real gateway drugs are prescription painkillers. you see less opiate abuse in states with legalized weed. Using mj as pain management lets people avoid oxy which leads people to heroin or a permanent painkiller addiction.

Is it your contention that anyone who uses cannabis, in any form, for any reason, is necessarily a leftist?

No I didn't say that, but apparently I rung you bell, so I take it you are a stoner.

The border cites and Austin are doing quite well.

All of them vote Republican then do they?

“Pure BS! Ask any cop or prosecutor who worked or is working narcotics. Check with families who have their kids on drugs and you will find the vast overwhelming majority started with pot and went on to bigger and better things. Saw it first hand working the street and the morgue (homicide).”

We should ask those who’s livelihood depends on continued criminalization? Yeah, we’d get a straight answer there...

Besides, everyone knows incorrigible dopers started with coffee, cigarettes and Budweiser. At least 99% of the time.

“Marijuana is a strong drug, this change is backwards and destructive.”

Those observations are true of whiskey as well. The end of alcohol prohibition has been a scourge on American society for nearly 90 years.

10’s of Millions dead. Millions of families destroyed.

I don’t use it.

But I am an unabashed proponent of full legalization.

It was the WoD that created the beginning of the police state, and it was the WoT that completed the job.

What a lovely fallacy lol!

News flash: People are driving impaired on every road in America every day. It’s against the law to do so now & it will be against the law to do so after cannabis prohibition is ended.

Good news is, you never have to use cannabis if you don’t want to do so.

Michigan, a Trump state, is heading toward full legalization this November. Utah and Missouri, Trump states, are heading toward medical marijuana then as well.

Oklahoma, another Trump state, may pass medical mj June 26. It’s leading in the polls but the voting date may hurt turnout. See Forbes article =>

“State Marijuana Legalization Measures Headed For Passage, Polls Show”

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomangell/2018/05/10/state-marijuana-legalization-measures-headed-for-passage-polls-show/

______

And don’t forget that FL, yet another Trump state, passed medical mj 71%-29% in Nov 2016.

So now we’ll just have more unemployable users going on welfare.

I’m all for drug legalization, if we get rid of welfare, first.

“Marijuana is a strong drug,”

It is.

“this change is backwards and destructive.”

Naw. Personal responsibility is always better than the nanny-state.

“So now we’ll just have more unemployable users going on welfare.”

There is absolutely no evidence of any kind to suggest such a thing will occur. Hysterical nonsense.

“I’m all for drug legalization, if we get rid of welfare, first.”

I’m all for less nanny-state & more freedom, personal responsibility which takes care of the welfare BS as well. :)

So how do you explain the fact companies can’t fill positions because too many fail the piss test?

There will still be prohibitions of homicide and pedophilia - or maybe you're suggesting that we normalize / decriminalize / remove prohibitions on those as well...

Homicide and pedophilia are crimes committed by individuals inflicting harm on individuals. MJ prohibition is a self declared crime against the state.

I don’t want any dopers around me. We just got back from Oregon. They were around every corner. Just as I don’t want texters and kids watching Netflix while they drive swerving in my lane.
