Charles Murray documented this in his book “Coming Apart”. Liberals and especially liberal elites live in separate communities, go to different schools, have different career paths, and separate entertainment preferences. They truly live in a cultural bubble associated with the elite, so they look down on the “dumb” masses.

Growing up in a small town, everyone rich and poor got along because we went to the same schools and had similar experiences growing up.
The best thing for these Harvard kids would be to get out into fly over country and spend a couple of years outside of the bubble. It would be their most valuable education they could get.
