Sadly, the people that want these are among us. I’m torn on this. If they abuse their doll or robot maybe they won’t abuse a real child? On the other hand it may spur the desire to do it to a real child. This is a serious mental disorder that can be propagated through reproduction. Perhaps mandatory sterilization should be required (in addition to other sentences) for convicted pedophiles to cull the herd. It would never happen in these politically correct times, but we’ve become weak as a species. And is that a slippery slope? What if those in charge at any given ime decide what offense warrants that? If it were up to me, 100% evidence of someone sexually assauling a child should go straight from the court decision to an incinerator. I’m not talking about the 18 year old that had sex with his 16 year old girlfriend. I’m talking about the pedophiles that prey on children.
I find myself torn for many of the same reasons. I would normally say that more research is needed before these questions can be answered, but I certainly don’t want to be the one doing the research.

I think we need some studies.
My first inclination is that we shouldn’t allow anything that makes anyone think of children as sexual objects. But might they help a pedophile who already has urges? I don’t know. They might help or they might make it worse. I think we should assume they will make it worse until we have evidence otherwise.
It occurs to me that we could allow them, but program the doll to be a nightmare experience that would cause someone to never go within 1000 yards of a child again. That wouldn’t survive the lawsuit. But it is a thought.
