Both Alec Baldwin and I are equally qualified to run for president.
The vetting process prior to the people states voting adds the final condition required by the Constitution to become president.
No mention of the people there . . .
- Article II Section 1:
- Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
Point taken.
I pondered how much detail was required to make my point that the Constitution does not limit who can run for president.
I said the people select from who is running for president to elect who becomes president because each state decides how the sovereigns votes direct the Electoral College vote.
Sometimes too much detail obscures the point.
