My best friend was French Canadian. They were good people, but they were definitely a lot different then my family. They loved to fart as loud as they could and laugh their asses off. I almost fell down the first time his mother let one rip while sitting on the wooden stool. Even his 80 year old grandmother got in on the action. They had a weird sense of humor but they were the nicest people you could meet.
The times I have traveled to Quebec Province it’s been a very different experience. Lots of great folks. There must have been some sort of filter at the border for those going on vacation in Maine.

My dad was French Canadian (fortunately for me mom was German)and thought farting was funny. He used to love to embarrass everyone in a fine restaurant, he’d lean over, let a very loud nasty smelling one go, and then just laugh. Mom and the rest of us would be so embarrassed.
I recall one time as a little boy, the odor was so bad the family behind him just got up and left. Boy! Did he laugh then.
But, he was my dad, may he RIP.
So I can definitely testify to your remark.
