Well, no. He was alive during WW2 so you can’t compare people who think they’ve vicariously suffered for something that happened to their ancestors (and who attribute vicarious guilt to others who’ve done no wrong themselves) to him.
But you could compare a WW2 French or Polish collaborator who tries to play it down because they were young.
