Distressing how many self-proclaimed “conservatives” refuse to get this.
I’ve gotten into pretty heated discussions with the Baptist professors at the local Baptist university when the city was voting to finally go wet (yep, we still have prohibition of alcohol down here). I tried to argue that it is a personal responsibility thing for adults. They kept saying they didn’t want their loved ones dying in drunk driver crashes - no matter how many times I told them and supplied links to information to support the simple fact that more people, per capita, die in alcohol related accidents in dry counties than in wet counties.
For them it was about safety (and that was even false) while for me it was about freedom.
Besides that, I hope it’s available at a low cost, of course, if I ever need it as medicine. I’ve read where it helps a lot of ailments.
Im only a conservative for the constitutional freedom. Those docs ARE our country. I dont want only my choices or lifestyle to be allowed.
Theres a well-established link between the churches that oppose letting counties go wet and the guys who run the liquor stores and bars just over the county line.
