The most talented and subtle politician in the country showed this week, once again, that he has L.G.B.T. Americans back. Justice Anthony Kennedy led a seven-member Supreme Court majority in a decision that superficially looks like a defeat for gay and lesbian people but is, in reality, one more rung quietly added to the rising ladder of equality.
For years, legal scholars and some of his fellow jurists have disparaged Justice Kennedys opinions as muddled and vague. But the justice, to their frustration, has proved to be a brilliant politician, possessed of a seemingly infallible feel for how to nudge the court and public opinion in his direction.

Sorry, but I find that a big problem. The SC should not be made up of politicians. It should be made up of justices that adhere to the constitution. Period.
Homo marriage?
No, never.
Hmm-hmm.
“If the NYTimes likes the Masterpiece decision, it was clearly a defeat for not only Christianity but also common decency.”

Soon you will be made to shut up about not wanting to bake cakes. Oh and that Scripture thing. WAAAAAAAAH! Leave it at the door.
Not comparable at all. This ruling was not an overall win. It was a loss for the commission. But in that loss the ruling spelled out just what would be needed to make the baker bake the cake next time. It agreed it was legitimate use of State powers to compel a Christian to go against his conscience and endorse behavior he opposed by providing his artistic expression. Think about that.
What, they couldn’t remember the word “weasel”?
The transformation of the nation is almost complete. They can come out and say it now.
Regarding the decision itself, you can tell from the oral arguments that Kennedy was desperately grasping for the 'hook' of the malfeasance of the colorado commission to narrow this ruling. I made comments to that effect myself at the time.
Yes...never let reality get in the way of a good story! IMO the SC ruling opened the doors to have all the “non-descrimination” laws overturned as they’re effectively just a battering ram for the homos and leftist fascists!
Me too for biblical reasons.
Which Supreme Court (in)justice was discovered bloody and beaten up in the local DC park frequented by homosexual activity after midnight?
