I enjoyed his shows. Kitchen Confidential is a fun read.

This was not a classy man.

A hate monger ultra liberal friend of Obama.

It seems many of these ultra liberals who know everything wrong with others are quite unhappy.

Being classy or un classy makes no difference now.

Politics aside, I always enjoyed his books and found him entertaining. Leaves behind an 11 year old daughter. That’s what I find unforgivable.

Agree in FULL! Ms Spade left behind a 13yo daughter and my comment on a different site was that a child at that age almost always blames themselves for their parents suicide. It will require a LOT of support from the remaining family, friends and professionals to handle that undeserved 'guilt'!

You just know that there will be a 'retrospective' and/or 'tribute' show(s) on Mr Bourdain in the coming weeks/months. Failure of these shows to mention the suicide ending would be a public disservice. Suicide is a SIN against the survivors and needs to make clear why it is not an acceptable ending!

Yes. He’d been openly criticizing Hillary all over the place about Weinstein.

I’m sorry he did this to himself. Another person, like Kate Spade, who seemingly had it all, and it wasn’t enough to get through whatever mental problems they had.

Another coincidence just occurred to me. Ernest Hemingway also committed suicide at 61, after a severe bout of depression.

Perhaps, like Hemingway, Bourdain was depressed about losing his "edge" - i.e., depressed about age-related loss of youthful skills (mental and/or physical)?

I dunno, just speculating.

Yes he let his liberal politics permeate his cooking show. But I hate to see suicide. Maybe he received some bad health diagnosis? RIP Anthony Bourdain.

Too bad when FR starts sounding like the doppelganger of the KOZ.

As is always the case, sadly. Free Republic used to be a lot classier.

Politics aside, FR is now as classless as DU.

There's nothing wrong with celebrating the death of an enemy. It's a healthy mentality that will keep us from turning into Sweden, where they are so classy they offer their butts to the Muslim hordes in the name of tolerance, and stuff their kids full of hormone blockers.

Did Spade and Bourdain take drugs for depression?
