Kate Spade has been found dead inside her Manhattan apartment.
The popular designer, who shot to fame with her line of eponymous purses, is believed to have committed suicide.
Spade, 55, left a note before taking her own life by hanging and was discovered by her housekeeper.
She is survived by her husband Andy, who is the brother of actor David Spade, and her 13-year-old daughter Frances. Kate was also the aunt of Rachel Brosnahan, the star of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

Coach
Hillary lost, their world is over.
Folks need to get out of the nasty city, and out in to the country to breathe fresh, clean air....and then volunteer for children or vets in need.
A reality check to bring about an entirely different perspective of things. Get them out of their quagmire.
God grant mercy to her tortured soul. What a terrible shame that she felt so helpless that this was her only way out.
I agree. I always feel sorry for those who commit suicide. How sad and hopeless they must feel and taking their own life is seeking relief in a most horrible way.......;(
May God bring you peace. For me it was my brother, and you are right.
WHAT THE HELL???? Was she on some kind of drugs?
She sold her stake in the company for $125 million. 12 years later her same named company was sold to another company for $2.5 billion. She then started a new company. I really hope that regrets over money didn’t drive this suicide
Who REALLY bought Kate Spade’s brand; Couch or Coach? Couch I never heard of. Coach is familiar because my missus has several of those purses. So which is it?
I would think that killing another for your gain would be the ultimate act of selfishness.
Albion Wilde, another senseless death of someone who had so much to live for. May she R.I.P.
I wonder whether she joined the Spade family before or after David Spade’s sitcom about a fashion industry magazine.
Not necessarily. Mental illness has nothing to do with selfishness. We dont know what demons she had.
Park Avenue or the Upper West Side? Conflicting stories.
Saw this article, although from a year ago, I wonder if it was about money.
First thing I thought of.
A couple things immediately come to mind.
This woman had all the money she could ever possibly need. She lived in an area of the world where she had everything she ever desired at her finger tips. And still! that was not enough to overcome the human condition.
I wonder to myself if these artist types are simply more inclined to moodiness and depression and emotional and mental turmoil.
In any case, it is heartbreaking on many levels. Prayers for her family.
Maybe she was ill, physically..bloated from the meds.
& 13 year old daughter! Sad.
Terribly sad, especially for her child.
If anyone reading this is struggling with depression, no! Your loved ones will not be better off without you! Please get help right away and don’t feel any shame over it.
Feelng like you should end it all is a brain chemistry disorder that can be helped quickly with light therapy, deep tissue massage, and medication. Long-term, there are many therapies, but first, get yourself off the edge.
Same to you.
