“I have great faith in President Trump. And I think in due time, he will rid himself of Sessions. He would probably do so immediately, were it not for the fact that McConnell would not allow a vote on a replacement.”

Thank you for your very reasoned reply - I don’t doubt your faith in Trump. Clearly you are not one of the over-the-top Sessions haters I have a problem with - they wildly exaggerate Sessions’ significance in the big picture. They wildly exaggerate the damage he’s supposedly done single handedly - to agree with them you’d have to believe Trump’s presidency is a total disaster - and it’s not. Their baseless presumption that with a different AG there would have been no witch hunt, and all sorts of high level Democrats would be in jail by now (or hanged?) - is just silly.

I don’t happen to agree, but it is perfectly reasonable for you to think Sessions was a mistake or to take Trump at his word that he wishes he’d picked someone else. I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump changed AGs sometime in the next 2-6 years - most POTUSs make numerous changes to their cabinets. Yes the GOPe leadership is not pro Trump. They are jealous of his political success. They are politicians who suck off the government teat and most don’t want the swamp drained.

Sessions may be guilty of that to some extent but if I were to make a list of the worst offenders in DC, he wouldn’t be anywhere near the top - EVERY Democrat and 90% of Republicans are worse than Jeff Sessions. To make Jeff Sessions out to be the worst thing that ever happened is just preposterous - especially since none of us really know anything.

I think a lot of MAGA people hoped Trump would be able drain the swamp a more forcefully - that we’d get to see a bunch of top Democrats perp walked to by now, or worse. That Trump would be able to brush off impeachment attempts as fake news - instead we have a year and a half long witch hunt and no Dems even charged.

Nobody wants to blame Trump, because in our hearts, we know draining the swamp is not a legal fight it’s a political fight - it’s not that easy to change public perception. We see what forcefulness Obama got away with weaponizing his DOJ and figure why can’t Trump and Sessions do that? Well, they can’t because the good guys don’t have the MSM and deep state on our side - we are fighting AGAINST them.

It’s not happening anywhere near fast enough - we want to blame someone, so let’s blame Sessions.

For me, the whole Sessions issue is a matter of degree - there are just a lot of people who take the #blameSessions obsession way, way too far - obviously you’re not one of them.

They are, for me, just like the idiots here who are certain that California or New Jersey, or Illinois destruction is necessary for the Republic to survive, discounting the fact that there are millions of patriotic Americans who are living in each of these states. Or that Texas is the “land of milk and honey,” when it’s not. The idea that we are better off hanging separately simply doesn’t work for me.
